One negative consequence of being a Sox fan means having to endure Hawk Harrelson (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/broadcasters.jsp?c_id=cws) when watching our beloved team on TV. While Steve Stone's addition to he booth makes the broadcast tolerable, Hawk's ever expanding repertoire of catch phrases has become increasingly hard on our ears. There's only so much "can of corn" and "he gone!" we can bear. And yet Hawk keep on adding to his list and becoming a parody of himself. Or, as he put it, "'With this club, what I've noticed as I've gotten older is that my emotions get a little higher."
Most recently, "Yes, Hell, Yes!" has begun spewing from Harrelson's mouth (http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/1663009,CST-SPT-ssep13.article), and looks like it's here to stay after the initial positive response from some. Said Hawk, "I'm not a texter, but I can get them. I know how to receive them. I must have had 30 texts on my phone, and that evening some of my good friends called me and said, 'I loved it, man. I loved it.'''
Which isn't to say that everybody's happy with it. Some parents are upset that Harrelson's teaching their kids a four-letter word, and he admitted to having received dozens of letters from concerned parents. His response? "'Well, if that's the worst thing they hear or say..." We don't care if people are offended by it or not, but if letters from concerned parents are what get it stopped, then keep writing in. We just want this latest catchphrase to be "o-vah!"
