Still No Arrest In Blago Break-In, But Gun Charge Issued

http://chicagoist.com/attachments/Marcus Gilmer/2009_12_05_swiper_blago.jpg Despite allegedly having a lead (http://chicagoist.com/2009/12/05/police_on_the_trail_of_blago_burgla.php) and even executing a search warrant in the case of stolen files from the offices of attorneys representing Rod Blagojevich, police turned up nothing in their search over the weekend. Well, almost nothing. After executing the search warrant on his apartment, police arrested 41-year-old Calvin Ware (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ware-gun-charge-07-dec07,0,2903117.story) for unlawful use of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Police found a loaded sawed-off shotgun, which Ware admitted owning, along with additional rounds. Still, Ware was not charged with anything relating to the burglaries though his apartment was searched in connection with the crime.

Police continue to search for eight laptop computers and a safe stolen from the South Side office of Sam Adams, Jr. (http://chicagoist.com/2009/12/04/blago_tapes_files_stolen.php), one of former governor Blagojevich's attorneys. At least half of the computers contained evidence relating to Blago's case and impending federal trial, scheduled to get underway next summer.
