After a weekend of watching music's future at Pitchfork (http://www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com/) (and remember when we talked to P4k's Chris Kaskie about the festival (http://chicagoist.com/2009/03/16/chicagoist_podcast_316_-_festivals.php) back in March?) , this week's entry to the Chicagoist Podcast series (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/TheChicagoistcomPodcastSeries) takes a bit of a look backwards.
Last week saw a story about the return of Frango Mints production (http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/food/1664273,CST-FIN-FRANGO14web.article) to the Chicagoland area - is that good news or bad news for the people who want Marshall Fields to come back to town as well? Jim McKay runs FieldsFansChicago.org (http://www.fieldsfanschicago.org/) and talked with the Chicagoist Podcast about whether there's still hope for a return of the Field's name to the historic store - and whether or not it's a lost cause.
Along similar lines, Alex Lucas created the site ItsTheSearsTower.com (http://www.itsthesearstower.com/) in response to the news that we'd be basking in the shadow of the Willis Tower (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-willis-tower-sears-towerjul17,0,5588239.story) as of last week. What is his view on the tower's name change, what can be done about it, and how many people have signed on to his petition with him in the last few hours and days?
If you've got a hankering to subscribe to the Podcast Series via iTunes you can do so at your leisure here (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=304241448), or plug us into the RSS Reader of your choice (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/TheChicagoistcomPodcastSeries). Let us know if there's anything else out there in history that you'd like someone to say "gee, it sucks that they're gone as well" about. Because we can do that as well.
